• Arrive  in Freetown

• Meet fellow travelers from the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean at the beautiful Country Lodge Hotel.

   Thursday, April 23         

• Tour Freetown's historic sites, including the National Museum, the Peace Museum, the Old Fourah Bay College, and the location of the historic Cotton Tree.

• Visit the St John's Maroon Church, built by Jamaican Maroons in 1882. 

• Enjoy a BBQ at the Mamba Point Lagoonda. 

• Stay to play at Lagoonda Casino (Optional)

   Friday, April 24        

• Participate in a Cultural and Business Exchange at Fourah Bay College, where you can explore potential business, educational, and other opportunities with Sierra Leoneans.

• Attend a Designer's Fashion Show featuring ready-to-wear men's and women's garments.

   Saturday, April 25          

• Visit the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary for a guided tour.

• Take a panoramic view of Freetown from Leicester Peak, 850 feet above the estuary.

• Meet some of Freetown's most talented artists at the Bondumani Art Gallery.

• Shop at the Big Market.

• Attend the Robert's Foundation Gala (African-chic attire).

• On this solemn day, we will tour the Bunce Island ruins, where hundreds of thousands of our ancestors were abducted into the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade.

• Visit Tasso Island, its sister island,  and participate in an African Naming Ceremony.  

• Explore the Kissy Town and Bethel Eco-Camps, and the Tasso Island Heritage Center. 

• Present a life-affirming Legacy Gift​ to the Tasso Island leaders and community.

• Dine at the panoramic View Hotel Lounge.​​​

Monday, April 27          

• Participate in the Sierra Leone Independence Day Celebration

Tuesday, April 28          

• Tour Masiaka  in the Port Loko District

  • Masquerade Performance

  • Lunch at the home of the Paramount  Chief of Masiaka.

• Enjoy a seafood lunch at Dalton's Banana Guesthouse.

• Celebrate Sierra Leone, new friendships, shared experiences, and reflections during our farewell Bonfire on Mozza Beach.

Our mission is to honor and elevate Sierra Leone’s cultural legacy by preserving its historic sites, enhancing heritage tourism, and advancing sustainable economic growth on Bunce and Tasso Islands.

During our visit, we will participate in the ceremonial dedication of symbols of freedom that will be transported from Sierra Leone for permanent installation at Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park. The boulder represents endurance and the unbreakable strength of a people who survived abduction and slavery. The cotton tree, a Sierra Leonean symbol of freedom and community, embodies hope and rebirth. These powerful symbols will form a physical and spiritual bridge between Sierra Leone and the Lowcountry communities shaped by their legacy.
